Gadar - Ek Prem Katha

Gadar- Ek pream katha is 2001 romantic action Hindi film directed by Anil Sharma and produced by Nittin Keni. The story was based on the life of Boota Singh during the Partition of India in 1947. Gadar started with Sunny Deol opposite Amisha Patel in lead roles along Amrish Puri and Lillete Dubey.  

The film had a Global release on 15 June 2001. It was made on budget of 190 million rupees and gross collection was over 1.33 billion rupees worldwide. Though, it was an all-time blockbuster movie by Box Office India.

Gadar is the second most watched movie in Hindi film industry since 1990s and it was adjusted gross 4.86 billion rupees according to 2017th ticket price.  

3 Idiots

If you asked anyone, mention your 5 favorite Hindi films name. I think, 3 idiots is one movie which will be included most of the people’s movie list.

3 Idiots is a 2009 comedy-drama film directed by Rajkumar Hirani who also co-wrote the screenplay with Abhijat Joshi. It was Produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra under the Vinod Chopra Films banner. The story mainly based on Cheton Bhagat’s novel Five Point Someone.

The film was starred with Amir khan, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Kareena Kapoor in lead roles and supported by Boman Irani and Omi Vaidya.

The film excellently portrayed three students’ friendship at an Indian engineering college and the satire of the social pressures of the Indian modern education system.   

After theatrical release in India on 25 December 2009, it got huge commercial and critical success. It was made on budget was only 550 million rupees and was earned 4.60 billion rupees worldwide.

It was declared the highest grossing film after opening weekend in India and became one of the Indian films at the time which became successful in East Asian markets such as China and Japan.

This all-time blockbuster Hindi film also earned the title of the highest grossing Indian film of the 2000s. 3 Idiots also created a social impact on attitudes to education systems in India as well as education system in other Asian countries such as China.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham...

Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham is also known as K3G. The film is 2001 family melodrama film directed by Karan Johar and produced by Yash Johar. It starred with Amitabh Bachchan, Joya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead roles with the guest appearance by Rani Mukerji. This film’s music was composed by Jatin-Lalit, Sandesh Shandilya and Aadesh Shrivastava and lyrics were written by Sameer and Anil Pandey. 

This film’s made on budget was 400 million rupees and gross earning was 1.36 billion rupees worldwide. The movie was released on 14 December 2001 and received huge positive response from audience. It was also declared a commercial successful project both domestically and internationally. This film became the highest grossing Indian film ever worldwide at the time according to Box Office India. 

Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai

Romantic and heart touching movie Kaho naa… Pyaar hai is a 2000 Hindi film directed by Rakesh Roshan. It was made with two debuts actor-actress his son Hrithik Roshan opposite Ameesha Patel. It was also produced by Sunil.

In the movie, actor Hrithik Roshan played the double role and for his brilliant performances he became an overnight superstar. He also known as the ‘Millennial Superstar’ since then.

Basically, the story was based on the 1986 Kannada movie Ratha Sapthami. The music was composed by Rajesh Roshan and lyrics were written by Ibrahim Ashk, Saawan Kumar Tak and Vijay Akela and songs were sung by Lucky Ali, Udit Narayon and Alka Yagnik. This music album received huge popularity at that time and was the second highest selling sound track of the year. 

On 14 January 2000 this film got theatrical release and received the title of highest grossing film of the year. It also became the successful Bollywood film of 2000.

Mohabbatein

Mohabbatein is a romantic drama film written and directed by Aditya Chopra and produced by Yesh Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner. This was a multi starred film with Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles.

The film also was a debuting film for several bollywood actor and actresses including Uday Chopra, Shamita Shetty, Jugal Hansraj, Kim Sharma, Jimmy Shergill, and Preeti Jhangiani. Bollywood popular duo Jatin-Lalit composed the film music and lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi.

Mohabbatein was released on 27th October 2000 and received positive responses from audiences. It also be declared as a commercial hit film and became the highest grossing film of the year in Bollywood. This films were produced on more than 130 to 190 million rupees’ budget and earned overall 900.1 million rupees worldwide according to Box Office of India.

Ghajini

Action thriller Hindi film Ghajini was release on 25 December 2008. The film was written and directed by A. R. Murugadoss and co-produced by Allu Aravind, Tagore Madhu and Madhu Manrena. This film was a remake version of the director Murugadoss’s 2005 Tamil film with the same name which also inspired by 2000 film Memento and 1951 British film Happy Go Lovely.

This film starred with Amir Khan opposite Asin in the lead roles and also featured by Jiah Khan, Pradeep Rawat, Tinnu Anand, Sunil Grover, Khalid Siddiqui and Riyaz Khan in the supporting roles. The soundtrack was composed by A. R. Rahman. 

After theatrical release, the film became the highest grossing Indian film of the year and also the first film which created the 100 crore club mark. This 68 crore rupee made on budget film, earned overall 232 crore rupees worldwide for which it became one of the highest grossing Indian films of all time.

As well as, with Ghajini, Amir khan performed a back to back hit films which created a record mark and touch a new benchmark of the Hindi film industry with 3 Idiots, Dhoom 3, PK, Dangal.

Dhoom 2

Bollywood popular action thriller is Dhoom series. Dhoom 2 is the second sequel of the series which was directed by Sanjay Gadhvi and produced by Aditya Chopra and Yash Chopra which estimated budget was 350 crore rupees under the Yash Raj Films banner. The film got theatrical release on 24 November 2006.

After release, the film was well received by critics and audiences and made a history mark in the Indian film industry with over 1800 prints. It became the 2006 highest grossing film in Bollywood and received the seventh highest grossing films title in India. 

According to Box Office India, Dhoom 2 gross earning was 1.5 billion rupees which brings it a Blockbuster rating. This film was also declared highest grossing Bollywood film of all time. 

The film starred with Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Uday Chopra and Bipasha Basu in the lead roles.

Krrish

Krrish is a Bollywood franchise of superhero films. It is the second sequel film of the series. The story was a continuation from the first film Koi… Mil Gaya (2013).

Krrish was directed and produced by Rakesh Roshan who is the father of superstar Hrithik Roshan.

The film starred with Hrithik Roshan opposite Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles and Naseer Uddin Shah, Rekha, Manini Mishra, Archana Puran Singh and Sharat Saxena featured in the supporting roles.  

This film was released worldwide on 23th June 2016 and got mixed review from audiences and critics. The film made on budget was only 40 crore rupees and worldwide gross collection was over 126 crore rupees. Box Office India declared the film as a blockbuster hit while it got a record mark in the opening week. It also became the third highest grossing Indian film in 2006.

Om Shanti Om

Om Shanti Om is a 2007 hindi romantic fantasy film directed by and co-written by Farha Khan, Mayur Puri and Mushtaq Shiekh and produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s wife Gauri Khan under the Red Chillies Entertainment banner.

This film’s name was selected by a popular song with same title from the 1980 film Karz. The music was composed by Vishal–Shekhar and lyrics were written by Javed Akhtar.

It starred with superstar Shah Rukh Khan opposite début actress Deepika Padukone in lead roles. It also featured with Shreyas Talpade, Kirron Kher, Bindu Desai and Javed Sheikh in supporting roles. In the film, we could see some special sequences of several superstars from Bollywood for performing a celebration song.

Om Shanti Om was theatrically released on 9th November 2007 during the Diwali celebration. The film was praised by both audiences and critics. Though, it’s made on budget was only 50 crore rupees, it earned over 215 crore rupees worldwide and became the highest grossing Bollywood film of the year.

Lage Raho Munnabhai

Lage Raho Munnabhai is a comedy drama film directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. It was the sequel film of Munna BhaiM.B.B.S. (2003). In both of the films Sanjay Dutta played the role as Munna Bhai who is a Mumbai Underworld don.

This story was inspired by the spirit of the great political figure Mahatma Gandhi. The entire film portrayed the practice of Gandhigiri that means the thoughts or philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi which mainly helps people to face their problems.

The film was release on 1 September 2006. After released the film won wide critical acclaim as well as commercial success. With only 200 million rupees’ budget, the film earned over 1.270 billion rupees worldwide.

According to Box office India, this film received a blockbuster rating mark and enjoyed the golden jubilee play time running at 210 cinemas until October of that year. After, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), it was the only film which achieved that level.

Later this film remade in Telugu language as the title of ‘Shankar Dada Zindabad’ (2007).
