USA businesses are trying to come up with different ways to stop the spread of Covid-19 Delta Variant

 Businesses in the United States are trying to come up with ways to combat the spread of the Covid-19 Delta variant. Top retail chains and restaurants in the country require its employees to wear masks and take vaccines. However, their major headache is handling customers. Taking strict measures would create many complications but not taking any measures would cause another major health disaster.    

Industry experts are not in support of strict enforcement of vaccination policy for various reasons, workers’ safety being one of them. Last year, there were numerous incidents of altercations between customers and store employees, which on several occasions turned violent, as they tried to enforce the mask wearing policy. Businesses fear that taking such measures would discourage people from coming to the stores thus hurting the business. 

Second, half of the US population has been fully vaccinated according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Even now, there are many places where people fiercely oppose vaccination.   

According to David French, Senior Vice President of Government Relations at the National Retail Federation, enforcing vaccine policy on customers is not the right step because store employees neither has the training nor skillsets to enforce such a policy. Moreover, there is no technology at present that would show a person’s vaccination status while entering the store. 

Local government regulation only added to the complexity of the whole situation as fourteen states banned vaccine passports- a digital app that provides vaccination status of a person while entering stores or any event. 

Top retail stores are coming with their own strategies to handle this situation. McDonald’s workers who are working in high risk areas have to wear masks and so do customers. Walmart and Target tell workers to wear masks all times. This rule only applies to customers who live in high-risk areas.  Corporate employees of Walmart, Walgreens and Gap have been vaccinated as they are trying to bring people into the office but store staffs are not required to do so.

    Only awareness can save us from this catastrophe now. No exemptions should be given for the use of masks and vaccinations Only then can we return to normal life.

    This seems to be the scenario of most of the countries. Actually people are not yet used to with the habit of wearing masks, sanitization and vaccination. People want to go back to their normal life. But alas! They don't want to follow the procedure for that. The more we will follow the health rules, the more we will be able to fight with this corona virus. So wearing masks, sanitize our hands and take vaccine is must. If this is the scenario of a country like USA then what must be the condition of the rural area of a country like Bangladesh! Awareness must be emphasized and the controversy against taking vaccine and wearing mask must be avoided. Life will be normal only when we will abide by the health rules.
